Lake Creek Falls
The old road went much closer to the bridge over the falls. Now it's a walking path. Like many of the waterways here it is raging and sits deep in a canyon. This place is wild!
The Beartooth Pass Summit
A blustery day with a lot of snow still on the ground! The orange poles are show stakes so they can find the sign in the winter!
The Bear's Tooth
Off in the distance, you can see the rock that looks like a bear's tooth and gave these mountains their name.
The white dots on the hill are sleeping mountain goats. We did not spot them- someone told us where to look.
The Beartooth Ski Area
There is a 1 lift ski area at the top of the pass. It's a poma up a really steep hill. It was running and they were still skiing when we passed by today (June 21st)!

The Beartooth Highway
Once again, the right road, but the wrong vehicle! This epic motorcycle road is only open in the summer and winds over the 10,000+ foot Beartooth pass. It's got everything- hairpin turns, amazing views, and jagged mountain peaks. The road goes from Red Lodge, Montana to Cooke City, one of the entrances to Yellowstone NP.

A bike adventure
Our hotel was about a mile from the center of Red Lodge so we decided to bike into town and look around. We found a spot to lock the bikes and had a lovely time. When we were ready to head back to the hotel we could not get the bikes unlocked. We had the right combination (it hasn't changed in years), but the lock would not release. While Jim tried to work on it, Sam and I walked to the police station to see if they had a bolt cutter. There wasn't anyone there so we called the non-emergency number. The woman at dispatch was very nice, but let us know that they do no do lock-outs. She suggested the TruValue Hardware in town. That was our next stop. The guys there loaned us a bolt cutter. It took some work, but success!
We returned the bolt cutters, left a Thank You note, and bought a new lock!
