Zion, the Covid way
One of the reasons we came to Zion on this trip was because the pandemic has led to the cancelation of the shuttles that are normally required to explore the park. They will allow as many cars as they have parking spaces (400 total) and then close the road. They start letting cars in at sun-up so you have to get an early start. At 7 am when we went to breakfast, we found out that they were full. At the suggestion of the park ranger we met yesterday, we decided to park at the visitor center and ride our bikes into the park. It's about 9 miles from there to the end of the road. The best part- very few cars and no shuttle busses! We had the road to ourselves. While it's a bit uphill on the way in, that means a good downhill at the end of the day.
